The diver action is heating up on North Carolina’s Pamlico Sound! We’ve had some great shoots lately. Layout hunting has been spectacular. We’ve had great success with bluebills (both lesser scaup and greater scaup). I had a treat yesterday and didn’t have a charter. That means, for once, I get in on the action from the layout boat!
Check out this video. The birds attack the decoys from left to right. I only crack at them once because I only had 1 more bird to fill my limit.
In this next video, you’ll see the birds pass the decoy spread to the left. Then they circle back and come right to the layout boat. The birds are about 15 yards when I shoot. (I know…I whiffed that first shot! I get excited when they’re in my face that close too. I made shots #2 and #3 count though.)
If you have any questions about how to best target these birds, feel free to contact me anytime. You can CLICK HERE to contact me. I’ll respond as soon as I get a chance.
